Get 15% discount When you pray before eating

A restaurant in Winston-Salem, North Carolina offers a discount to customers who pray at their table before eating. At Mary’s Gourmet Diner 15 per cent is taken off a customer’s bill if their server spots them praying. The owner of the restaurant, Mary Haglund said she has been offering the discount for four years.

 The reduction in meal price is not advertised but drew attention after a customer shared her receipt on Facebook which caught the attention of a radio station who shared it with their own followers making the news go viral. Haglund spoke to newsmen saying “ For me, every plate of food is a gift.” She continued “And I never take that for granted and when I see someone in a restaurant honouring their gratefulness at my table… it touches my heart.” Haglund described herself as a spiritual person, and believes in a higher power. “We are so fortunate in this country,” she said. “It’s just a moment or faithfulness about the plate of food.”
