Enyimba striker, Mfon Udoh has described as awesome scoring the match winner against oriental neighbours and champions, Enugu Rangers. The People’s Elephant came from behind to beat the Coal City side 2-1 in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 17 derby clash at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
Former Enyimba man, Daniel Etor scored the match opener for the Flying Antelopes while the duo, Stephen Chukwude and Mfon Udoh grabbed the match winner for the Aba outfit.
Udoh said his side looked like the favoured one in the difficult oriental derby clash against Enugu Rangers.
“It’s simply awesome scoring the winning goal in the derby clash against champions, Enugu Rangers.
“The feeling is quite electrifying scoring the crucial goal that gave us the whole three points at stake.
“Yes, we knew the encounter will be thoroughly difficult given the rivalry between both sides as well as history behind the clash.
“We knew we will win but did not know it will be this tough but we are excited we grabbed the whole three points at stake.
“Of course, the derby lived up to its pre-match billing as Enugu Rangers gave good account of themselves.
“Maybe ill-luck denied them the vital win as I can comfortably say we were destined and favoured to win.
“Sure we will continue the fight for proper placing on the league log till we achieve our target, we will not rest but feel further challenge to go for more victories,” said the former Akwa United hitman to supersport.com.
Enyimba are sixth on the 20-team top-flight on 25 points seven behind league leaders, Plateau United.
