Once there were five
men,
tired of leaving their
lives in the hands of God.
And so, they asked of
it from Him.
Freely He gave to
each, his own life, right in their palm.
A thousand times more
tender than egg,
a millionth the weight
of a feather.
On their palm it lay,
ready to take words from
its new master.
The first man it was,
he looked at his life
It looked feeble and
delicate.
If he covers with his
palm, it will crush from pressure.
If he let it open to
air, it would drift in every direction of the wind.
No bank can be trusted
with his life,
not even a safe in his house for a man is seldom
at home.
So he looked at his
life, fearing the worst is come upon him,
He took it back to
God, saying
“take my life and make
of thy will”
Of the second, we say
little.
In his palm was his
life, but he regarded it not.
He went about seeking advice
from friends, “how do I care for my life?
But no man is an
expert in life, little they told was only but an experience upon a
circumstance.
From man, to man, he
parleyed his life.
And once, he met a
physician seeking advice on how to care for his life
“Here, is my life, how
do I cater for it?”
But when he lay his
palm before the physician, he saw not his life
But the life of many
his advisers on his palm.
The third man was a philosopher,
he sought the truth in all things
And upon the life of others
he mined for wisdom.
Like Gold through
fire, he tested their life.
He uncovered many
hidden things about life.
And also the ocean of
the unknown in life.
And when he was set to
live his life
giving it the best of living,
devoid of unhappiness and gloom,
it was already a
three-quarter spent, too brief to enjoy the truths of his findings.
The fourth man was a
warrior,
he knew that muscles grow
when used
So he set his life to
work
Gradually he applied
pressure in his palms
and his life learnt to
withstand
Soon he took his life
to war,
daring all he met on
his way
And it never came back
Someone stronger
snatched it from him
The fifth man was a
student
The least unskilled of
the five
Every day, he made
mistakes
and failed in the
lessons of life
But in each tomorrow,
he amends the mistakes of the yester-day
His life was suffered
sometimes,
Well cared for at
other times.
And when he found no
new challenges in his life,
Confident that all
mistakes have been amended
He went back to God
Saying
“God, you gave me a life that put me to test,
Sometimes I failed, and from these failures I learnt
Other times I succeeded and upon these success I
built more
Take my life and assess it, my assignment is
due for a submission”
